A prova disso, é que após apenas 2 semanas de ter reeditado o 1º álbum de Antiquus Scriptum, "Abi In Malam Pestem", porá cá fora também o álbum sucessor, "Immortalis Factus", originalmente lançado em 2008. The German Wolfmond Production not only has proven to be a reliable and truly professional label, as in addition, also very fast and efficient when regards to their issues. The proof, is that after only 2 weeks after having reprinted the 1st album of Antiquus Scriptum, "Abi In Malam Pestem", shall put out there also the successor work, "Immortalis Factus", originally released in 2008. I recall that these works, as well as the entire discography of the project, are being re-released with new artwork in Pro CDr format of very good quality, in a collector's edition limited to 100 copies of each album. The CD costs only 5€ + 2€ for international shipping (worldwide) and here I leave the samples of the new artwork of the CD for the possible interested ones. Greetings from Eden! The edition of the demo "In Pulverem Reverteris" on Promo CD by the North American Elegy Records will really happen and is already being prepared... I remind ye that it is the 1st time this 1st studio demo of Antiquus Scriptum, original from 2000, is released (alone) on CD format, with an initial print run of 300 copies, but that shall be repeated more often. A edição terá novo artwork, como podem ver nas fotos e não tem número de tiragem específico, indo a editora fazendo prints deste trabalho conforme possa... O lançamento está marcado para muito breve, 1 mês, mais ou menos e terá um preço acessível ;) 

A Craneal Fracture Records é uma editora mais virada para a Experimental Music e Noise, Ambiental e Raw Black Metal e escolheu reeditar estes trabalhos precisamente pela crueza e agressividade destes registos... A demo "In Pulverem Reverteris", de 2000, e o álbum "Abi In Malam Pestem", de 2002, são e vão sempre ser trabalhos muito importantes para mim pessoalmente e foram gravados numa altura muito conturbada e delicada da minha vida, só sendo possível a sua realização devido à generosidade e amizade do meu velho amigo Paulo Vieira (Paulão), que tornou possível a gravação destes trabalhos, na altura... Infernal Greetings! The 1st album of Antiquus Scriptum, "Abi In Malam Pestem", of 2002, + 1st studio demo, "In Pulverem Reverteris", of 2000, shall be reissued on tape format by the Iberian label, Cranial Fracture Records, very soon! The edition will have new artwork, as you can see in the pictures and has no specific number of drawing, going to the publisher making prints of this work as they can... The launch is scheduled for very soon, one month or so and shall have an affordable price ;)

Cranial Fracture Records is a more forward label for Experimental Music and Noise, Ambiental and Raw Black Metal and chose to republish this works precisely by the crudity and aggressiveness of these records... The demo "In Pulverem Reverteris", of 2000, and the album "Abi in Malam Pestem", of 2002, are and will always be very important works for me personally and were recorded in a very troubled and delicate time of my life, only being possible to record them due to the generosity and friendship of my old friend Paulo Vieira (Paulão), which made possible the recording of these works, at the time... I am very glad, that 16 and 14 years later, respectively, and many issues later, still be interested labels in releasing these works further on tape, my favorite format ^_^ My thanks to Cranial Fracture Records for the interest and all of ye for your attention! Gostava muito de vos deixar aqui um pequeno exemplo, mas tive de formatar o meu computador há uns dias e estou com dificuldades em re-instalar o Movie Maker, que uso para fazer os clips ou demonstrações... I step only to inform the folks that follow the activities of my humble Antiquus Scriptum, that the recording sessions of the 2 electric guitars for the next album, "Imaginarium", were completed this week at the Mosh Pit Studios, of my friend Paulo Vieira. I would like to leave here a small example, but I had to format my computer a few days ago and I'm struggling to re-install the Movie Maker, that I normally use to make clips or demonstrations... Greetings! An interview I gave with Antiquus Scriptum for Occult Black Metal Zine. Thanx to those whom read ;)  Humbly: Magus \m/ O \m/

1. Can you give us an update on what is going on with the musical project these days?

. Hi! Thanx so much for the opportunity. Right now I'm recording already the forthcoming album of Antiquus Scriptum, that shall be named: "Imaginarium". It's the 5th original album and the 6th full-length album of the project since 1998. 

2. So far this year you have released a compilation and also have been a part of a split, how would you describe the musical sound of the newer material and also how does it differ from the stuff you have released in the past?

. The music is always evoluting from work to work, of course, Antiquus Scriptum is no different. Much things change from album to album, further technical aspects, but the important is to hold the identity, or the gem of the project through the years, but I think that despite some technical details, there are always changing from album to album, the music of Antiquus Scriptum doesn't differ much from the early days due its own personality... That's what I honestly think...  

3. Over the years you have also released a great amount of compilation's, can you tell us a little bit more about it?

. Yeah, the fact is that I'm not weird when it comes to issues, by the contrary, I'm always searching for more and more releases, no matter the drafts, tipe or format. Much of these compilations are in Pro CDr editions, very limited most of them, but it's ok for me, since I just want to release more and more stuff of my project, actually. 

4. What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects you explore with your newer music?

. Antiquus Scriptum is mainly influenced by ancient history, mithology, old tales and stuff, but some themes are consisted in a more 'modern' points of views and talk about modern things as well... Each theme is a theme and I don't only talk about history all the time and I don't talk about social criticism all the time too... I try to connect these both, amongst other matters, depending on the theme I'm writting. Some themes are historical, some are interventional, some are romantic, some are more 'Black Metal', others more Thrash... It depends...

5. You have covered Lustinian Heritage and Mythology in your lyrics, can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in your own heritage?

. Well, I'm a Lusitanian Warrior, I shall tell my own history!... Not new, everybody does... Each people with their roots and heritages. First of all I really love ancient history, mithology, old tales and all related with antiquity, the own name of the band shows that, so I enjoy to talk about my own ancestors and homeland, despite to have themes that are focused in other cultures, as the Roman Empire, the Vikings, biblical aspects, etc, etc etc... I think that it is a little fashionable nowadays in terms of Pagan Black Metal wordwide to talk about our own cultures and history... I like that, a little Folklore and mithology as well... But I have no problem to write about any culture or nation, since releated with antiquity, worldwide. 

6. On the albums you record everything by yourself, are you open to bringing other musicians onto the albums or do you prefer to remain solo?

. Yes, Antiquus scriptum is and will always be my solo project... I have always guest musicians on the records, as the Vieira brothers that participate in almost all the recordings, plus new folks I occasionally meet, is always happening, but their participations are always as guests musicians and the project always remains my solo project, ever. 

7. You have done live shows with this project before, what are some of the best shows that the band has played over the years and also how would you describe your stage performance?

. Antiquus Scriptum just played live once in 1999 in Almada, with the very first formation when it was considered a band, but there's the very first phase of the project and it's far from what I've done alone through the years, after I choose the one-man-band path... Live performances ate not my tipe, that's part of the past... Antiquus Scriptum is mostly influenced by projects as Bathory, Burzum or Darkthrone, that doesn't play live ever and I like this way.

8. Do you have any plans for shows in the future?

. Sorry, but no.

9. Recently you where a part of a split with 'Astarium', what are your thoughts on the other project that had participated on the recording?

. Astarium is a very good Russian Symphonic / Pagan Black Metal / Ambient project and SiN, is a very talented and nice guy! I respect him so much for his course with Astarium and I think he respect Antiquus Scriptum equally. I really love his stuff and the Ambiental Split just happened occasionally, since the label that have released it is of his own, NitroAtmosphericum Records...  

10. On the split you had done a Satyricon cover, what was the decision behind doing your own version of one of their songs?

. First of all I really love (early) Satyricon and "I En Svart Kiste" is such a beautiful and epic keyboard theme! Makes all the sense to cover it, it's really an ex-libris of old school Black Metal golden years! In fact, I was needing an outro keyboard theme to close my tribute album, "Recovering The Throne...", back in 2014, so I asked to my great friend Ricardo Vieira, a very talented musician and friend of mine that participate for many years in the band, that covered me "I En Svart Kiste" of Satyricon, so he did and very alike, that's it... I really love that song, I feel chills everytime I listen to it, no matter how many Winters have passed since then... 

11. The compilation was partially released by Pesttanz Klangschmiede, can you tell us a little bit more about this label?

. Yes, Pesttanz Klangschmiede is my official label since early 2013, despite I have always others issues by different labels at the same time... Pesttanz Klangschmiede (and Vegvisir Distribution), are very good labels and I just have to speak well of them, of course, they unleashed all my discography of 5 albums, all 1.100 copies each one and they have been very professional and fair until now, nothing to blame, it's been great! 

12. On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of black and pagan metal?

. Fortunatly, Antiquus Scriptum is mostly well received everywhere for the folks whom enjoy this tipe of music, I am fortunatly always receiving messages from interest folks around the world with nice words about my project and that's very, very good! Much respect everyone, Strenght & Honor! For such a small Portuguese band that even doesn't play live, I have a very nice feedback, indeed! 

13. What is going on with your other musical projects these days?

. No musical projects beside Antiquus Scriptum, no, no... I have no time. Antiquus Scriptum takes 100% of my free time! 

14. Where do you see yourself heading into as a musician in the future?

. Huumm... Nice question... Well, I see myself as an Underground musician in the future, just like I was in the past, actually... Things here in Portugal are not easy at all, and Heavy Metal music is almost a taboo for the society in general... Only Moonspell have achieved a real nice international landing in almost 30 years of Underground, here... Music here is nothing but a hobby, almost secret sometimes, that we carry passionately through the years, not for living as in Norway or Sweden... 

15. What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your newer music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

. In terms of Metal I listen to everyting that is old school, but mostly 80's & 90's... Heavy Metal, Thrash, Death, Doom, Black, I like everything and I listen to everything regularly, despite the most important influences I use in Antiquus Scriptum is Black Metal, of course, Thrash & Folk. But in music in general I like lots of stuff, ambiental stuff, classical music, chants, etc... I'm very opened minded in terms of music and I get influenced by many things through the years, despite I have a firm convicted path for the project...

16. What are some of your non musical interests?

. Women... eheh, just joking :) I like to read a lot, some epic movies, walk on nature, forests, mountains... But even all this is related with music and music is, definitely, the most important thing on my life! 

17. Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

. Well, thanx so much to thy Occult Black Metal Zine for this opportunity and for the folks in general, I just want to ask to you please support your local bands on the acquiring of their merchandising, go to live concerts and use Mp3 just to listen on the street, but please buy their original stuff. Rotting Christ cover being prepared!!...

Estou a sacar esta cover... A bateria já foi gravada hoje entre as 6 e as 8 da manhã, numa noite insana de insónia e inspiração... Agora estou a sacar a guitarra e espero te-la pronta antes da Páscoa. Sempre adorei esta malha, "The Fifth Illusion", do álbum "Non Serviam", de Rotting Christ. Basta ser do anno dourado de 1994... Tempos mágicos da erupção do Black Metal a nível mundial em que se fizeram excelentes hinos pagãos, este é um deles... Está-me a dar uma pica imensa trabalhar nesta cover, até porque é a última malha do disco, pois todo o álbum está escrito. Pode-se dizer que Antiquus Scriptum já está oficialmente em estúdio, pois as baterias já foram quase todas gravadas e a 1ª guitarra também, a diferença é que pela 1ª vez na história entrei em estúdio para gravar ao mesmo tempo que ia compondo os temas, isto graças à amabilidade do meu amigo de longa data e velho irmão de armas, Paulo Vieira (Paulão) que me abriu as portas do seu Mosh Pit para esse efeito, logo desde o 1º tema composto. I'm making this cover... The drums has been already recorded today between 6 and 8 am, in an insane night of insomnia and inspiration... I'm now making the guitar and I hope to have it ready before Easter. I've always loved this song, "The Fifth Illusion", from the album "Non Serviam", of Rotting Christ. Just be from golden year of 1994... Magical times of the eruption of Black Metal around the world and have been made great pagan hymns, this is one of them... Is giving me a huge joy to work on this cover, even because it is the last song of the record since the entire album is written. It can be said that Antiquus Scriptum is already officially in studio, since the drums were almost all recorded and the 1st guitar as well, the difference is that for the 1st time in history I went into studio to record while going composing the themes, this thanks to the kindness of my longtime friend and brother in arms, Paulo Vieira (Paulão) whom opened me the doors of his Mosh Pit to this effect, right after the 1st theme got compound. Promo CD da demo "In Pulverem Reverteris" cá fora em finais de Abril!!

Saudações do Éden! A 1ª demo de Antiquus Scriptum, "In Pulverem Reverteris", originalmente gravada e lançada no anno 2000, será reeditada em finais do mês de Abril em formato Promo CD de cartão, tipo fold out sleeve, pela norte americana Elegy Records. Vão ser feitas várias tiragens e 300 cópias deste lançamento, que não tem propriamente um número limite de tiragem. Ainda não sei o preço que a editora pretende aplicar neste Promo, mas vou ver se é vendido por 5, 6€, no máximo, devido ao lançamento em questão. É a 1ª vez que esta demo é lançada sozinha em CD e o Promo será muito engraçado, pelo que sei... 2000 abraços para vocês e só espero que este post não desapareça também!...

Promo CD of the demo "In Pulverem Reverteris" out there in late April!!

Greetings from the Eden! The 1st demo of Antiquus Scriptum, "In Pulverem Reverteris", originally recorded and released in the year 2000 shall be reissued at the end of April in Promo Card CD format, fold out sleeve type, by the North American Elegy Records. There will be made several print runs of 300 copies of this release, which does not exactly have a drawing limit number. I do not know the price that the label intends to apply on this promo, but I will see if it is sold for 5, 6€, at most, due the release in question. It is the 1st time that this demo is released alone on CD and the Promo will be very nice, for what all I know... 2000 hugs to ye and I just hope this post doesn't disappear too!... Relembro que este Split é totalmente Ambiental / Neoclassical / Folk e visa promover precisamente este lado de ambos os projectos que habitualmente praticam Pagan & Symphonic Black Metal. O trabalho é lançado pela também Russa NitroAtmosfericum Records em formato Pro-CDr e é limitado a 333 cópias. O custo do CD é apenas de 4€ (!) + 1€ (portes nacionais).

* Apesar do preço, o grafismo deste Pro-CDr é de grande qualidade gráfica, como podem ver na foto. Os CDs já vêm a caminho da Rússia, vamos lá a ver se recebo tudo bem... I remind that this Split is totally Ambiental / Neoclassical / Folk and aims to promote equally this side of both projects whom habitually practice Pagan & Symphonic Black Metal. The work is released by the also Russian NitroAtmosfericum Records in Pro-CDr format and is limited to 333 copies. The cost of the CD is of only 4€ (!) + 2€ (international shipping).

* Despite the price, the layout of this Pro-CDr is of great graphic quality, as you can see in the photo. The CD's have come from Russia, already, let's see if I get everything soon... The CD version of the Split between Antiquus Scriptum and the Russians Astarium, "Hymns To The Ancient Northland", to be released by the also Russian NitroAtmosfericum Records, is already at the factory and will see the light of day with the entry of March. I remember that this split is entirely ambiental and aims to raise awareness of the Ambient / Neoclassical / Folk veins of both projects, which usually are influenced by Pagan and Symphonic Black Metal... Saudações, Feiticeiros das Neves! Saiu precisamente hoje, dia 2 de Fevereiro de 2016, (finalmente!), o Duplo CD de Antiquus Scriptum, "... Outrora, Quando As Águas Choravam...", lançado em comunhão pela espanhola Negra Nit distro e a alemã Pesttanz Klangschmiede. Relembro que este trabalho é um CD / Compilação que é lançado em jeito de comemoração dos já longos 18 annos de carreira de Antiquus Sriptum e inclui os melhores temas do projecto desde a primeira demo de 2000, "In Pulverem Reverteris", até ao último álbum de originais, o "Ars Longa, Vita Brevis...", de 2013, contando com 5 (!) malhas novas, gravadas propositadamente para este Duplo CD. O disco custa 15€ + 1€ de portes (nacionais) e quem tiver interesse neste trabalho, pode enviar mensagem privada para mim directamente, ou para a caixa de entrada do FB de Antiquus Scriptum, ou ainda escrever para: antiquus_scriptum@yahoo.com. 

* Embora o CD tenha saído oficialmente hoje, tenho de esperar até 6ª Feira, ou até 2ª Feira da semana que vem para ter o CD em mãos. Greetings, Snow Wizards! Came out precisely today, 2 February, (finally!), The double CD of Antiquus Scriptum, "... Outrora, Quando As Águas Choravam..." (... Once, When Waters Wept...), released in communion by the Spanish Negra Nit distro and the German Pesttanz Klangschmiede. I remind ye that this work is a CD / Compilation released in celebration way of the already long 18 years of Antiquus Sriptum career and includes the best themes of the project since the first demo of 2000, "In Pulverem Reverteris", until the last original album, the "Ars Longa, Vita Brevis..." from 2013, with 5 (!) new tracks, purposely recorded for this double CD. * The CD actually has come out officially today, but I have to wait until Friday, or even Monday next week to have the CD in hands. Venho aqui hoje divulgar que o split com os russos Astarium, "Hymns To The Ancient Northland", a ser editado em Março pela também russa NitroAtmosfericum Records, limitado a 300 copias em Pro CDr, sairá também em versão Pro Tape pela prestigiadíssima (no que toca a edições k7), Werewolf Promotion, da gélida e belíssima Polónia. Esta versão tape será do mais profissional que há, ou não fosse a Werewolf conhecida por editar edições em cassete simplesmente brutais a todos os níveis!! Esta sairá durante o corrente anno (ainda não há data certa) e será limitada a 100 cópias. Relembro que este split de Antiquus Scriptum & Astarium será na sua globalidade um trabalho de música Ambient / Neoclassical / Folk, com o intuito de dar a conhecer melhor a vertente ambiental destes 2 projectos, (habitualmente) influenciados pelo Symphonic Black Metal.

I come here today to announce that the split with the Russians Astarium, "Hymns To The Ancient Northland", that shall be release in March by the also Russian NitroAtmosfericum Records, limited to 300 copies in Pro CDr, will come out in Pro Tape version as well through the highly prestigious (in matter of k7 editions), Werewolf Promotion, from the cold and beautiful Poland. This tape version shall be in the most professional issue, or were not Werewolf known for the simply brutal editions on cassette at all levels!! This release shall be out during the current year (there is still no exact date) and is limited to 100 copies. I recall that this split of Antiquus Scriptum & Astarium is in its entirety a work of Ambient / Neoclassical / Folk music, in order to promote better the ambiental aspects of these 2 projects, (usually) influenced by the Symphonic Black Metal.
